Good morning my readers, I do know that a lot of you like to be updated about our living room redo.
About a week ago, the artist painter finished the paneling patina.
It is always diffficult to see the exact color of the patina in a picture. We have chosen for a faded green, a verdigris.
In the meantime I am thinking about the type of wall lights we need to have in the room.
I already ordered a pair of French LXV appliques in an unlacquered polished brass from Vaughan which will be added on both sides of the mirror.
And this pair of 18th century Italian wall lights, which I found a couple of months ago at Brigitte & Alain Garnier Antiques, will be hung on the paneling.
A few days ago we received the rim lock and handles for the secret doors from van Cronenburg Architectural Hardware.
In one of the next days I will have to make a decision about the window treatment fabrics! There are so many beautiful fabrics ! So hard to make a decision!

ReplyDeleteC'est magnifique ! Vraiment ! On se croirait dans un intérieur XVIII ème ! Les patines ont encore changé, quel travail ! Il reste encore le plafond... J'aime beaucoup les appliques, il y a beaucoup de choix chez Vaughan, cela me donne envie... Les rideaux vont être très bien aussi j'en suis sûre !

I see that you didn't find the antique mirror you were looking for. There is a company in New York that makes very good reproduction French, Mercury, Venetian etc. antique mirrors. You can order samples and they ship world wide. Check them out at waltersmirror.com They also make mirrors to be applied to furniture.

ReplyDeleteRegarding the fabrics you are considering - have you had a look at Ian Mankin by any chance? They do lovely tickings and some designs with simple embroidery. The quality is really high (all woven in the UK I think) and they are so incredibly nice to do business with.

ReplyDeleteThese panelled walls/mirror are manufactured so beautifully that it is almost impossible to tell that they have not been there for many years. I love the proportions too... something one is able to do in European buildings with high ceilings. Everything tells of restraint - a very difficult concept to keep to but it is somehow so important to the end result. I cannot wait to see this room furnished and I love the light fittings/door furniture! Wonderful!!
